The Introduction to Scriptwriting course aims to help subject matter experts who want to create a video-based or blended learning course to gain the skills to write an effective script for the narration.

The course first introduces learners to the concept of learning objectives and how to build them. It then explains how to develop a course outline on the basis of the learning objectives. After that, the course moves on to cover various aspects of scriptwriting, explaining how to build a course on the basis of a course outline. It covers both structural and stylistic aspects of scriptwriting. Particular attention is given to making a script conversational, including relevant and illustrative examples, metaphors and analogies. The course closes by explaining the importance of getting external input from an advisory group, editing, and conducting a table read. It also explains what needs to happen once the script is finalised in order to prepare it for filming.
